Jätka ostlemistOur personal stories continue on a wave of wonder. A woman who knows how to set goals for herself, without forgetting how to enjoy the whole process. Signe inspires with her writings. She has published the notebook "Olen iseenda boss" and the inspirational book "Julgus luata tõhtud" . She is a wonderful mother and employer branding advocate and trainer. To top it all off, she has set herself the goal of completing an Ironman and is striving towards her dreams while loving herself.
Signe, you are an incredibly bright and self-fulfilling woman! Has this kind of breathing accompanied you your whole life, or have experiences shaped you this way?
Ehh, thanks for noticing! I have loved movement my entire conscious life and also did a lot of sports during school and I can say that it has helped me understand who I am, what I like, how I behave in difficult situations, what my untapped potential is and given me the courage to live a more vibrant life. Still goals – setting them and enjoying the process and results.
You always have so many different activities on your plate. How do you manage to do it all? Share your secret weapon with us?
I live by Benjamin Franklin's principle: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” It's that simple! It all starts with clear focus, planning, and concentration.
Amidst all your work challenges, you haven't forgotten about your mental balance. What helps you keep it in balance?
I've also reached this point through a few buckets of water. If you experience burnout a few times, we change our behavior as people. It's not possible to just work and hope that you're happy. If I want to achieve my goals, to be a good entrepreneur, then I've put together the tools in my lucky suitcase. These are activities that always make me happy, clear my head, or spark new thoughts. Some time ago, I was sitting at my desk in my home office and writing an article... If good ideas didn't come right away, I would push myself and keep writing... But now... When I have a crisis of thought like this, I put on my sneakers, go for a run, or go for a walk with my dog in the forest.
In recent years, you have set yourself more and more ambitious sporting goals with special enthusiasm. Have you been able to achieve all of your goals? How do you feel about not reaching your goals ?
My observation is that only a few goals actually come true exactly as you intended. During the goal-setting process, developments and changes occur, and the goal itself can take on a completely new direction. Now the question is whether I can keep up with this development or whether I will say that it was actually a failure. It is important to clearly define success when setting goals, and in my opinion, this is one of the keys to staying in touch with your goals. My lesson regarding goal-setting is that the process always teaches. It educates us. But even more important is to develop an achiever's mindset in yourself.
Ironman. Woow… How do you support yourself in reaching your goal on a daily basis?
I have developed self-awareness and notice my small successes very well. I also celebrate small achievements. This supports and helps me move forward in difficult times and leads to my goal. When I made the decision to participate in Ironman, I asked myself why I want to do it and why it is important to me. I have noticed that clear "why" answers always lead to results. The goal of my participation in Ironman is to test myself in three areas - how to do it, how to cope and thereby push the limits of my abilities.
Do you sometimes feel a fear of the unknown, whether you can still complete an Ironman?
Currently preparing for Ironman, I have caught myself thinking several times - how big eyes are with fear, unbelievable! When the coach tells you that today we will do about 90 kilometers with the group. And what was my first thought - help, I can't ride that much, I can't take on the mountains... Because the human brain wants to keep it in a comfortable and safe zone, without taking excessive risks. And this same way of thinking is reflected in both Ironman and my professional field.
If you could share one, and in your opinion, most important message to people about sleep, what would it be?
If the French have such a principle, how to be happy every day? That if you are in a bad mood, then have a glass of champagne. If you are in a good mood, have a glass of champagne. I would say that if you are in a bad mood, take a beauty nap. If you are weak or tired, take a short beauty nap. Hone your ability to sleep in different places, because sometimes a beauty nap in a relaxation corner helps you make fresh and considered decisions. I work from a home office every day and my favorites are short “beauty nap minutes”. I usually do about 15 minutes, no more - then new and fresh solutions will come easily again.
I recommend it to everyone!
It's unbelievable that there are still such awesome women among us. You can keep an eye on Signe's inspiring work on her Instagram account.
Set goals for yourself and achieve them! At the same time, love yourself even if a goal doesn't come true right away or takes a completely new direction.
